“Picnic” Dinner of turkey sandwich, cheese stick, cherry tomatoes, and kiwi
On Saturday evening I decided to have a little fun with dinner and made my sweet Claire a “picnic” dinner. She even got to sit on a blanket in the living room and watch her favorite cartoon, Curious George!
Kiwi is one of her all time favorite foods. She could have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or really any old time.
I decided to let my 11 month have a try. (I have been so much slower introducing solids to Evie, probably since I nursed her much longer than Claire).
She handled it for a little bit and smushed the small piece of kiwi in both fingers for a minute and then decided to pop it in her mouth. I then noticed something strange…a redness started creeping around her mouth and upon inspection her little fists were being red blotchy too! Before I could grab a towel to wipe those little fingers off they flew up to rub the eyes. Now small hives started to spread across her entire face and the one eye became quite red. Fortunately I was able to stop and think to add soap and water to the towel to cleanse my sweet baby’s skin and get rid of some of the allergen.
Fortunately, the rash cleared up on its own under my watchful eyes, but that was quite a scare! And I know have learned to my lesson and have a large bottle of Benadryl on hand just in case some other unexpected allergy crops up, but let’s hope not!
This goes to prove that Murphy’s Law is definitely in FULL effect while a loved one is deployed, so be prepared!
Wow that must have been so scary for you!! Glad to hear everything turned out ok in the end though!!!!!
Yep, it was a wild ride! So thankful nothing more serious happend!
