This morning we had one of these beautiful red trucks pay a visit to the house.
Thankful, we DID NOT have a fire, but rather a broken hot water heater which created a beautiful steam that I initially mistook for smoke.
So I stood outside with my one year old and two year old in jammies, and we got to see our fine fire department in action first hand!
My smart and serious Claire heard the sirens approaching our house and as the firemen walked up to us she studied their yellow uniforms and big hats. My happy-go-lucky 13 month old, Evie, greeted each fireman with a smile. They both did so well with all the activity and adventure.
As for our fire department; I am so impressed with their quick response, being able to identify and fix the problem (disconnected the water heater), and were so courteous and understanding.
And I told them I was especially so thankful since my husband is deployed and having an emergency with two little girls is a lot to handle. And even though this wasn’t a full-blown emergency, these men are still heroes to me.
Then my parents came over and cleaned up our soggy basement. What a task! I don’t know what I would do without them! I am so blessed they live so close.
Tomorrow we are getting a new water heater, so I guess we are skipping baths tonight 😉
