So, I am still trying to do my 15 min abs routine, and even though I am motivated, it just is hard for me to do it every single day. My two sweet girls have just really been extra needy lately and so when I have a moment alone it is called collapse on the couch and zone out until bedtime.
Knowing I thrive in social settings I decided to sign up through our local university for summer fitness classes. It is actually an amazing deal because for only $55 I am able to take as many and whatever classes I want from now until the end of August! Today I chose to do the yoga class. I have done yoga in the past, but not very consistently, so I was very excited to commit to a once a week class. Oh. My. Word. This 45 minute class kicked my butt! Fortunately about the last 20 minutes was about relaxation.
There was one pose in particular that I just burst out laughing in my inability to come anywhere near close to doing. I felt really bad because there is the tranquil music in the background and everybody is all Zen and everything and I just laughed for almost a minute because I felt and probably looked ridiculous trying to do “The Pigeon”.
Basically, your front leg is supposed to be parallel to the mat and the back leg straight out behind you, and then you bend forward over yourself with a straight back. I accomplished what I called “The Dead Pigeon” I got my front leg to be right, but my back leg…ha! Not. Even. Close. Despite my major short comings of doing various poses, I do see myself strengthening my core and improving flexibility over time. Namaste!
